Gravitational Pull

I wouldn't call myself a 'shipper, per se, and in any case I'm less so than I used to be, but Cable and Domino are still the couple nearest and dearest to my heart. They fit with each other, in a way that's nearly impossible to explain, and endlessly fascinating to explore in fic.

This page certainly doesn't hold all my stories where both Cable and Domino appear (that would be a huge proportion of my archive). It doesn't even hold all the stories that deal with their relationship. There are a number of stories from various series that could have fit here, so you're liable to find many more Cable/Dom stories as you explore the rest of the archive.

The stories here are generally one-shots, or others that can stand on their own. Cable and Domino's relationship is pivotal to the plot in each, which was my general criteria for putting a story here.

This is one of the areas of the archive that's liable to have more stories on a regular basis; Cable/Dom ideas attack in packs, you see. ;) If you read something you liked, I'd love to know .--Alicia

Annwn
(PG-13)
Decades after Cable's death fighting Apocalypse, Domino comes to his grave one last time, and discovers that some things are stronger than death... This has to be one of my favorite of my stories. Initially inspired by the movie 'What Dreams May Come', it flowed so smoothly, and felt so right, both during the writing process and afterwards. It's one of the few fics of mine that I reread regularly, just because I like to re-experience the warm glow it originally left me with. Someone, I think possibly Duey, called this a fairy tale about love. I can't think of a better description, or one that makes me feel more confident that I hit exactly the note I was aiming for with this story.
This is one of my favorites - it is a beautiful story that will touch your soul. ~JenMorrioghan

Chalice
(PG)
An Elseworlds tale. A lady and a knight rescue each other in a most unusual way... My first attempt at an Elseworlds, and probably the only fic of mine that I'm seriously considering rewriting as an original piece (in a slightly different perspective, of course. Sometimes experimentation can be taken too far...;).

Christmas In The Taiga
(PG-13)
Just when Domino thinks her luck's run out, she's miraculously rescued from a very dangerous situation. But dealing with her rescuer may be the real challenge... This was my Christmas story for 2000, an attempt to write a Cable/Dom story set more-or-less in the challenging 'climate' of then-current continuity. (Not that the situation seems to have gotten any better in the time since!) It wound up considerably more hopeful than I expected it to. Will wonders never cease... ;)

Hellfire And Damnation
1 2 3 in progress...
(R)
Domino is drawn into the affairs of the Hellfire Club's Inner Circle, and Cable attempts to save her, only to discover that the situation is a great deal more complicated than either of them thought. Another trip into the realm of dark-fic, and one of my first fics set in the six-month gap before the X-Men 'Revolution'. It's a remarkable narrative device, really, and one I've returned to many times. I was intrigued, post-Revolution, when it was revealed that Cable had been looking for Domino for months, and I started to wonder about why...

The Hunters
1 in progress...
(R)
After X-Force's last, disastrous mission, Cable finds Domino to enlist her help in his search for Sam. I loathed the way the REAL X-Force ended. Loatheditloathedit. Don't even get me started on the new team. This is my attempt to 'fix' things, at least to the extent I can do it without rewriting canon completely. After all, the real challenge is to stay 'within the lines'.

I Left My Heart On Seikosha IX
(PG-13)
When X-Force has moved into the mansion and Cable is wearing himself out trying to do everything himself, Domino decides to take steps. Now, this fic was a terrible amount of fun to write, really. It was one of my early attempts at a straight--um, well, it's not particularly graphic, so I can't really call it erotica, but it definitely flirts with the edges of erotica--well-laced with comedy, though.

Just Believe
(PG)
What if the Twelve Saga had ended happily? What would Cable and Domino have done on New Year's Eve, 2000? You've probably figured out by now that I didn't like the Twelve Saga. This was yet another attempt to give it a different (in this case happy) ending.

The Lake
(PG)
Nathan and Domino take some time away. If you ask me which of my fics I'm proudest of, this one is certainly near the top of the list. It's short and relatively simple, plot-wise, but I don't think I've ever managed to write anything quite like it. Whenever I finally start writing original fiction, this is the model I'm going to be using.

Losing Myself In You
(R)
On the way back from the Negev, Cable and Domino deal with the feelings stirred up by the end-of-the-world-that-wasn't. My very first piece of erotica. I can remember how nervous I was, posting this--it's kind of funny, in retrospect. Reading it now, I can see all kinds of things I would have done differently if I'd been writing it today, but hey, you've got to start somewhere with this kind of thing.

Moving Mountains
(PG-13)
After Apocalypse's death, Nathan convinces Domino to come rock-climbing with him, and despite awkwardness and near-disaster, they begin to deal with some of the issues between them. Duey's birthday fic for 2001, and possibly the start of a series--if I ever get the chance to get back to it.

Necessary Evils
(R)
Domino has moved on with her life and joined a new mercenary group, but when one of their jobs conflicts disastrously with Cable's latest personal crusade, how far will Domino go to secure the information she and her new friends need to save themselves--the information that only Cable has, and isn't willing to share? This is also going to be a series, if I ever get the chance to get back to it. The scenario is too good to waste on a single sort, and I grew rather fond of the group of original characters here.

#offtherecord
(PG)
Cable, G.W. Bridge and a surprise 'guest' share an online chatroom. An experiment in format, done in the style of an IRC chatroom log; not one that I think I'd ever repeat (there's a limited amount of potential in it, really), but it turned out well enough this time.

Open Your Mind
(G)
Cable and Domino explore their psi-link. Written for the 350 Word Challenge on OTL... and I actually came in under the limit.

Renowned Be Thy Grave
(PG-13)
In a dark future controlled by the Sentinels, an X-Man remembers Cable and Domino and the sacrifice they made. One of my first attempts to redeem my somewhat shoddy treatment of Storm in my early fic.

Sailing The Sky
(PG)
Domino and Cable share a quiet afternoon of introspection and cloud-watching. Somewhat mushy, but I still like the image of them cloud-watching. :)
A beautiful look at Dom and Nate being both whimsical and serious. ~JenMorrioghan

Surfacing
(PG-13)
In the wake of the Psi-War, Domino goes looking for Cable--right in time to wind up in the middle of the Nemesis Contract. Here I took another stab at 'fixing' Marvel. I just couldn't believe that Domino wouldn't go looking for Cable when their psi-link broke. Marvel's terribly inconsistent about things like that.
This is a definite Must Read - the Nemesis Contract as Marvel should have written it. :) ~JenMorrioghan

Trust Me
(PG-13)
Domino tries to talk Cable out of doing something drastic. Another experiment with the half-a-conversation format, and one that turned out particularly well, I think.
